Welcome to Ammolite Canada, your go-to online marketplace for the finest, ethically sourced Alberta ammolite products. Our platform proudly showcases the creative and collaborative efforts of passionate ammolite artisans. These individuals mine, collect, polish, and create authentic pieces of jewellery and inspirational works of art.

My fascination for this remarkable gemstone began when I was a salesperson at an ammolite retail store in Canmore, Alberta. Learning the intricate process of shaping, sanding, and polishing the gemstone was an eye-opening experience that drove my enthusiasm to share its beauty with the world. At this store, I gained a decade of experience leading public tours, guiding people through the entire ammolite journey, from mining the fossil to creating stunning gemstones.

Throughout this incredible career, I've had the pleasure of meeting extraordinary talents who have taken my appreciation for ammolite to new heights. I am eternally grateful to all these gifted individuals for their insight, creativity, and unwavering passion for this captivating gemstone. Ammolite Canada brings together all these incredible artisans in one place. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a newcomer to this gemstone, we are dedicated to providing you with an exceptional experience and truly authentic, high-quality Alberta ammolite.

Meet the Artists and Artisans

Cherisse Mia

Cherisse grew up in Washington, USA but has lived in Canada since she was twelve. She calls Calgary, Alberta her home, and the province's wide-open prairies, rolling hills and mountains inspire her art. Passionate about rocks and fossils since a young age, Cherisse combines gemstones and art into a unique three-dimensional collage. A self-confessed geologist, much of her stunning artwork features the ammolite gemstone.

Art is my soul and my true passion and I feel privileged for it to be my career.  I plan on painting until I’m 110 years old!

Jason Berkholtz

Jason Berkholtz, also known as “Fossil Dad” from the Alberta Fossil Family, has been honing his skills in the ammolite industry for many years. The excitement of uncovering 65-million-year-old fossils during mining was what first captivated him and sent him on his ammolite journey. Jason loves to get out and explore Alberta while hunting for ammolite gemstones. He is passionate about educating younger generations about these amazing fossilized creatures and his own children have certainly caught the “fossil bug” from their dad!

Each and every ammolite product is truly handcrafted and completely original. To be able to take a single piece of ammonite and watch the creative evolution unfold, turning it to ammolite is amazing!

Garry and Greer Holowatuk

Garry’s journey into the ammolite industry began a decade ago, after a 26-year career as a graphic artist and signmaker. His attention to detail and commitment to perfection are unmatched. He is self-taught and has worked on numerous mammoth tusks, complete ammolite specimens, and even dinosaur bones.

Over the last couple of years, he has teamed up with his wife, Greer. She shares Garry’s passion for exceptional craftsmanship, and together, they have earned a reputation for creating pieces of unparalleled quality.

I am extremely proud to say that my handiwork is enjoyed by people all over the world and I believe the thousands of specimens I’ve finished are in most countries across the planet. I truly value the wonderful clients I’ve met and sold to over the years.
